Peer Education Project
Training 2008
A Group of Young People from Hackney have been trained to co-faciliate at MTR with the help of funding from Team Hackney.
A selected group of young people attended training held by Keith Stewart, focussing on the role of a facilitator. The
group trained to be co- facilitators, looking at Leadership, Teamwork skills & how to put them into practice. They discussed
the skills that they already have & how they could transfer these skills to the role of facilitator & looked at what actually
makes a good facilitator. In addition they discussed the responsibilities of training other young people & how to deliver
effective advice within the MTR framework.
This kind of training is essential for young people who want to learn future key skills & is very beneficial for future
employment & further education. The young people develop confidence & gain a deeper understanding about the media & learn to
speak up & speak out!
MTR has implemented this training for several years & we are delighted with the results & the feedback we get from young
participants.
