Peer Education Project

Training 2003

To meet with the demand MTR has staged training sessions throughout July 2003 conducted by Denise Rose - MTR Director, Keith Stewart - Journeyman Training Project Management, Mel Avis - Freelance Consultant, David Laird & Mo Batsel - MTR Facilitators.

Peer Education

The aim of the training was to provide introductory training to a group of 16-25 year olds to enable them to become peer co-facilitators. By the end of the training the participants had:

  • Identified skills, qualities, abilities or areas of knowledge that they already have
  • Clarified their understanding of MTR policies, procedures & the ethos of our work
  • Worked with other members of the MTR team & fellow peer facilitators
  • Discussed issues relating to child protection, health & safety, diversity, teamwork & managing groups
  • Discussed their attitudes, experiences , values & beliefs in relation to a range of issues
  • Explored their role as a facilitator
  • Identified strategies for developing their skills
