MTR Studio 23 Aims and Objectives
MTR offers an alternative way of seeing and being seen, to both the media and its audiences and, importantly, to
young people themselves.
We aim to bridge the cultural and social economic gap between people and places, by increasing awareness about
what makes us different and the things we have in common.
We aim to observe and celebrate the uniqueness of everyday lives. We aim to provide creative environments where
young people can enhance their skills and attributes, in order to maximise the possibilities for their futures.
We will do this by:
- Establishing an accessible, friendly studio space that will encourage a broad access to media arts for young
people from disadvantaged and impoverished backgrounds.
- Enabling young people to explore moving image in new and innovative ways, by expressing their own ideas &
challenging the predictability of commercial television productions.
- Designing projects and training opportunities that suit the needs and abilities of the learner and maximise
opportunities for young people to engage in ‘out of school’ activities, and increase the likelihood of gaining social
economic independence.
|
- Offering an attention-grabbing programme of festivals, speakers and a DVD library that platforms innovative work
that is made by and/or about young people, from film makers in the UK and around the world.
- Nurturing and launching a body of new and creative work to the general public, and building new and diverse
audiences.
- Involving young people in the development and maintenance of MTR Studio 23, and taking action on all aspects of
accessibility.
- Providing a dynamic and creative team of people who positively reflect the diversity of the communities in which
we work, have expertise and experience in the film industry, are highly trained group facilitators and have an excellent
understanding of the needs of young people.
|
 |
- Developing a sound and sustainable business foundation for the long term and sustaining mutually beneficial
partnerships with the creative industries sector, private sector, Children’s Trusts, youth, education and voluntary
sectors.
