In December 2003 MTR produced a short pilot documentary with young people that live in the Egyptian desert. This film, Our Everyday Lives, Egypt has already gained a huge positive response, winning an International Festival Award – Kids for Kids Grand Prize and Youth Media Program Award at The Hamptons International Film Festival. This film has also been viewed at various youth events in London and within youth organisations.
Due to the success of Our Everyday Lives Egypt, MTR is embarking on a similar project exploring nomadic life in the Moroccan Desert. Having carried out a pilot film workshop in 2004, the young people are very excited about making a short film that can be used to share another way of life to children and young people living in the Western World.
For centuries nomadic tribes have travelled deserts moving from water source to water source, living off the land and travelling with donkeys, camels and other animals. This documentary aims to explore Nomadic life & the comparing and contrasting ways in which their lives differ to young people’s lives in Western society.
