Gaining funding from the London Development Agency; MTR, Rising Tide and Eastside Educational Trust ran a two week summer programme through July-August 2009 where young people from all across Hackney worked on all features of producing a musical. Young people worked through the process of singing, dancing, filming and scripting to produce the fantastic musical ‘A Typical Day’ which will premiere at the BFI on 28th November 2009.

“[I learnt] how to listen, give my opinion and show new people where things are.” - Sanchez

“I enjoyed working with different people, learning new songs and dance moves. I was able to express my opinion by saying how I felt we could improve some of the scenes we filmed.” - Riann

“ I enjoyed the fact that I got to use expensive equipment and learnt how to operate it. I liked being trusted with the stuff. [The project was] better than I thought it would be actually!” - Josie
